What causes mold growth?
Mold growth is caused by water moisture, whether by contact with water or by moisture in the air in high-humidity areas.

Is mold dangerous to my health?
Yes, all mold, whether living or dead, causes allergies and some types of mold are even toxic. Mold also causes damage to any structure that it grows on.

What does mold remediation consist of?
The type and extent of mold remediation that is performed is on a case-by-case basis. With that said, mold remediation is dependent on: the genus of mold found (usually black mold), how many rooms are contaminated by mold, whether mold is found in the HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) system, and how sensitive the building occupants are.

Will I have to leave my home during the mold removal operation?
Usually not. The mold remediation specialist will enlose all work areas with plastic sheeting, thereby isolating the mold cleanup from the rest of the house.

After mold cleanup, is mold testing required?
Yes. This is sometimes called post-remediation sampling, and consists of a third-party providing mold testing services and written documentation stating the effectiveness of the mold remediation.

What is done to prevent mold regrowth?
Usually, anti-fungal paint is applied to the previously-effected areas.
